What are math facts?
The single-digit addition, subtraction, multiplication and division combinations — 7 + 6, 13 − 5, 8 × 4 — that fluent students recall instantly instead of computing. This drill covers the addition and subtraction families.
How often should a child practice math facts?
Short and daily beats long and weekly: five minutes a day moves automaticity faster than half an hour on Saturday. The drill is deliberately short enough to fit that rhythm.
How does the abacus build fact fluency?
Beads give each quantity one visual shape, and the complement pairs (5s and 10s) replace counting with a single move. After enough repetitions the child sees 7 + 6 as a bead picture and reads off 13 — automaticity by another route.
