2-digit multiplication worksheets

Two-digit by one-digit products — the exact bridge between knowing the tables and doing long multiplication.

Problems like 48 × 7 are where table recall and place value meet: each digit gets multiplied, and the partial results must land in the right columns. It is the single most useful multiplication shape to drill after the tables themselves.

Mostly, yes — two-by-one multiplication leans on fact recall for every digit pair. If the tables are shaky, drill them first on the times-tables pages.
Is this the same as long multiplication?
It is the first half of it. Two-digit by one-digit needs no row-shifting, so students learn the digit-by-digit rhythm before the full algorithm adds its second row.
